e, Sweden has a vast assortment of birds. The majority of them are migratory and the rest stick out the harsh winter as best they can and sometimes the winters can be very harsh! The birds that stay in Sweden year round are a hearty bunch, suffering times of starvation and cold. Not to mention the predators who are also starving and cold. This makes for a hard winter for these precious feathered creatures. Many people in Sweden take on the responsibility of ensuring that these winter birds have enough food to survive, by ways of bird feeding stations in their yards. Not only do the birds enjoy having food to survive but the people enjoy seeing the birds and all of
their activities around the bird feeding station.
Birds fill many very important functions in Sweden. One of them are that there are many insects here and if the birds don’t keep them in control then we would all have to stay indoors in the summertime! They also shed happiness on us when we see how beautiful and graceful they are and not to mention bird song is most wonderful to listen to.
In the winter the birds are quiet to save energy for their survival, but in the spring!
Birds tell us when springtime has arrived because the air comes alive with movement and sound. Not to mention the returning of the migratory birds. After the long dark and cold Swedish winter, all of these beloved birds are the very bearers of happiness and rejoice!
